Hello, I have a strange question for you!
What does your day-to-day job involve? How did you become an interior designer?
I'm asking this sitting in front of my computer in Oman, in the Middle East, where I work as an English teacher. I'm a 34-year-old single mother, extensively travelled, determined to have a challenging job that I love - but at present I am here to make money doing something that I'm good at, but don't have a passion for. My real passion is natural fabrics and colours. So forgive my questions, but at this great distance I am trying to get an idea of what I could move into. Please humour me!
Thanks
Hanna

Hello Hanna - what a great thrill hearing from you in Oman! My day-to-day job varies dramatically from one day to the next. We work all over Australia (and overseas) and I have a team of nine who work on about 30 projects at once. Our work can range from designing a new house, from the ground up, to consulting with developers on new multi-dwelling projects, to designing a renovation of an 1895 heritage listed house, or even space planning for a restaurant! I studied interior design for three years at art school in the UK and have since gone on to do a lot more study throughout the years in various aspects of the industry, including studying and obtaining my full builder's licence a few years ago. I wish you very well and if you need any more encouragement - write again! Kind regards, Di
