My name is Hannah im 20 and i have recently started working at a building company in Gympie, Queensland. This is my first job in the building industry and as a part of my new position i need to come up with some ideas for our investment newsletter. So I was wondering, I know your probably busy designing more beautiful masterpieces, I was thinking about doing a right up on the new trends in the interior design industry. I’ve been looking through the net but as I have never ventured into this type of work before I find it hard to know what is in and what is not. Hi Di, Yesterday we bought a beautiful home in Wilston (Eildon Hill) and although it is very well finished, we would like make a few changes to make it our own. Mostly it is aesthetic including new carpet and painting of some rooms. The only renovation we would be looking at is downstairs bathroom as we wish to add a shower recess (we also like to renovate the bathroom to match the style of the as new kitchen we already have, as it is close to it). We would also like advice on total interior design utilising some furniture/artwork we have, but expanding on this in the different living spaces. Would you be able to help us? We take possession of the house from 15 September and would like to get some of the initial work done eg carpet and painting before we move in. Thanks Cheryl

We have just purchased our dream home in Pelican Waters, our past rustic house bali/everything we enjoyed, but now, we need real advise on this house. It calls out for curves it is finished in white tiles white kitchen curved walls open plan - we need help! As I have read you get asked about work and work experience frequently. My name is Emily Matthews and I completed one week of year 11 work experience in 2008. I work hard with Ricki and loved it and never wanted it to ever end. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to meet you due to your busy schedule, but I was able to visit one of your houses in Noosa Sound which did nothing more but inspire me further. Hi Di... we were recently in Noosa and viewed a Penthouse that was for Sale on " Picturepoint Road" the top one from a set of three. WE fell in love with the internal doors... that were limewashed and the inset of the doors were louvred shutters with the slide pull.. I have tried desperately to find the supplier... and wondered if you may be able to help me? Then at least I could contact them and maybe be able to track them down in Perth - Western Australia... Hello, I have a strange question for you! What does your day-to-day job involve? How did you become an interior designer? I'm asking this sitting in front of my computer in Oman, in the Middle East, where I work as an English teacher. I'm a 34-year-old single mother, extensively travelled, determined to have a challenging job that I love - but at present I am here to make money doing something that I'm good at, but don't have a passion for. My real passion is natural fabrics and colours. So forgive my questions, but at this great distance I am trying to get an idea of what I could move into. Please humour me! Thanks Hanna

Good evening Di, My name is Lee, I am currently seeking advice as to how i should further my career in the design industry. i studied in England after school and under went 5 years at collage and university studying fine arts, product, industrial,furniture, interior and acrhitectural design along with the odd course in photograhpy and printing, i know its a big list but i like to keep busy and learn as much as possible. since i arrived in Australia twelve years ago i have had a number of design jobs but mostly consentrating on interior design including custom kitchen and furniture design. since i moved to Mooloolabah just before christmas last year i have been wanting to get back into a design role of some kind. most of the work i have done is working with clients and architects directly and also project managing the job until completion. i was thinking of doing some kind of refresher course, do you think this will help me to gain access to the design world again? i am currently working in sales but its not exaclty my dream job. I like to think i am very talanted in the drawing and the design area and my portfolio does show this. if you could shed some light on a career path or help out in anyway i would appriciate it. many thanks Lee
