As we head into the next decade, the impact of design on the environment will increasingly play an important role, as legislation encourages the use of materials that save energy. As a registered ‘Greensmart’ builder, Di and her team can investigate and implement energy efficient and environmentally sound resources into new designs. Renovations are taking precedence over new builds across the country, as owners see the value of improving and upgrading existing properties. This is particularly evident in Noosa with property investors taking advantage of quiet times to refurbish holiday rentals to maximize returns. We are working on a number of such refurbishments, involving both renovation and new furnishings. Investors are aware that holiday accommodation has to be well maintained to attract and maintain high returns. |
Di Henshall was engaged to fit out this specialist medical practice in Noosa Junction, which was acquired as an empty shell by the owners. The layout was uninspiring, ill-conceived and made worse by the total lack of natural light available. We had to create our own sunshine. We also had to invent a space that would be welcoming and comfortable for patients, many of them suffering from painful conditions. The use of various types of artificial lighting and multiple textures helped to create a warm, friendly, very un-medical-like atmosphere. The doctors who practise there and their patients are all completely delighted by what we achieved. |
